It has literally been 15 years since Blink 182 played Starland Ballroom. In fact, it has been so long that when Blink played there it wasn't even Starland yet. They have spent the last 20 years touring the world playing arenas. But this week they decided to play 3 intimate shows. For the fans, and to help out some charities. I was able to cover their stop at Starland, and it was one of the craziest shows I have ever been to.
New Beat Fund opened the show, and they did a fantastic job of getting the crowd hyped for what was to come. Hailing from Los Angeles, this 4 piece band filled their set with pop hooks, killer beats, and infectious energy. For a band that no one was really familiar with, they did a great job of keeping everyone's attention.
Shortly after New Beat Club left, Blink 182 took the stage. They started off with a bang, ripping right into Feeling This and they didn't slow down for the next hour and a half. Every song was a hit with the crowd. Every song had 2000 people singing every line. Every single song was a memory.
I know that for the lucky 2000 or so that were able to make it to this show, it is something that live in their memories for the rest of their lives. Blink sounded fantastic and it looked like they were really having fun playing together. Everyone walked away sweaty, maybe a little banged up from moshing, but smiling from ear to ear.
