It seems like over the last 6 months or so I kept hearing about this band, letlive. I didn't really pay attention to them for a while but then I heard their amazing new single and it piqued my interest. I started looking into them more. But the time Vans Warped Tour was rolling around, they were on the short list of bands I HAD to shoot.
I was able to meet singer Jason Butler shortly before they took the stage. He was really nice, laughing and taking pictures with the kids surrounding him. As soon as they took the stage though, that all changed. He became a tornado tearing apart everything in his path.
They absolutely had one of the best sets of the day. Every single member of that band had insane energy, but it was hard to pay attention to anything but Butler. At one point he tore the carpet up, then he started hurling amps into the stage. He never stopped moving for more than half a second, and you could feel his vocals through your whole body. Shooting letlive. was like seeing a car crash and trying to not get hit with glass.
As soon as I got home I went and got their new album The Blackest Beautiful. It is an absolutely fantastic album and seeing them play some of the tracks from it did not disappoint. They are absolutely a band I want to shoot again, and if you are going to Warped Tour this year you should absolutely making seeing them a priority.
